Hey there! I’ve been meaning to do this for some time now. Not just because it’s a new year, but also because I wanted to get more familiar with my clients and you guys with me. I guess it’s a good a time as any. So bear with me as I get through these blog posts. I am a photographer and not a writer after all.
This is my family. My wife Cristina and my son Christopher.
I’ve been a photographer for about 20 years now. I’d say 17 of those have been as a professional. When I started I only shot landscapes. Mainly because I was terrified to work with people and secondly because I loved the outdoors and traveling. I think that’s where my son got the travel bug from.
I quickly discovered that there was a bigger market for people willing to pay for portraits than for scenic shots. So like most people getting into the business I shot just about everything. From high school seniors to weddings and newborns. Doing that for a couple years I started looking for what other types of photography I might be interested in.
As I was looking through some ads on Craigslist one day, I came across an ad looking for a set photographer on an independent movie being filmed in Portland. Answering that ad set a path for most of my future in photography. Wow, one small decision really changed so much. I met the Freeman Brothers there and was able to work on a couple of their films by shooting all the behind-the-scenes stills. Word started getting around and I started to work on more film projects. Then on commercial projects. And then one day I get an email from Disney/ABC to shoot for one of their show pilots. Then after that came working on The Bachelor. And many others…
Long story short, that one decision to try something new put my career in a completely different direction than I didn’t expect. And opened up so many doors along the way.
You can see much of my work in the galleries on this site. And feel free to drop me a note and say hi.
